Capability 05 / Digital Transformation

Digital transformation, without the programme overhead.

One consultant who looks across the whole business, identifies what is worth changing and implements it — rather than a deck recommending that somebody else does.

Process and systems mapping
Opportunity identification and sequencing
Software, automation and AI delivery
Data and reporting foundations
Digital growth infrastructure
Ongoing improvement
The problem

Why transformation programmes disappoint

Large programmes often separate the people who diagnose from the people who deliver. By the time work starts, the understanding has been lost in handover.

  • Recommendations that never became working systems
  • A strategy document nobody has opened since
  • Change measured in activity rather than outcomes
  • Departments solving the same problem separately
  • Technology chosen before the process was understood
  • No single person accountable for the result

How I approach it

01

One view of the whole business

Problems rarely respect service categories. A reporting problem is often a CRM problem; an admin problem is often an integration problem. Looking across all four capabilities is what makes the right answer visible.

02

Diagnose and deliver with the same person

The understanding built during discovery goes straight into implementation, because it is the same relationship throughout.

03

Sequence by payback, not ambition

Work is ordered so early changes release time and evidence that fund the next ones.

What that looks like in practice

Illustrative examples of the work, not client case studies.

01

A prioritised roadmap after one day

Where time, information and opportunities are being lost, ranked by what is worth doing first.

02

Systems that finally talk to each other

Fewer islands, less re-keying, one version of the customer.

03

Reporting leadership can rely on

A consistent picture of operations, sales and finance built from live data.

04

Continuous improvement without a department

A standing arrangement to keep finding and removing friction.

The process

01DiscoverUnderstand the business, systems, bottlenecks and objectives.
02MapMap processes, data, customer journeys and technology.
03IdentifyFind opportunities across software, automation, AI and growth.
04BuildImplement, integrate and measure — then keep improving.

Questions

What size of business do you work with?

Organisations large enough to feel the cost of manual process and disconnected systems, but small enough that a single accountable consultant is an advantage rather than a constraint.

How does an engagement start?

Almost always with a Transformation Day at £600. You get a prioritised roadmap, and no obligation to go further.

What if a project needs more hands?

I own the problem and the relationship. Where delivery needs additional specialist resource, Henderson Digital structures that around the work.

Do you work remotely or on site?

Both. Discovery usually benefits from time on site; delivery is mostly remote with regular review.

Tell me what's frustrating you.

I'll tell you whether I think there's something worth exploring. If there isn't, I'll say so.
